Young’s Island is a man made dredged island about half a mile long located in Stony Brook Harbor, running parallel to Sand Street Beach. It serves as nesting grounds for many species of migratory shorebirds. In order to get to Young’s Island we will need to take a short kayak trip across the channel. Be ready to paddle and learn more about the birds that use this strip of sand as a stopover route~ all while helping to protect them!
We will be meeting in the second parking lot on Shore Road in front of Stony Brook Yacht Club where we will be using the boat launch for our kayaks.
