Observatories

The Avalon Sky Dome and Sky Lab, led by David Cohn and David Barnett, are innovative observatory structures that reveal the sky for both stellar and solar observing.

The Avalon Observatories house several permanently mounted telescopes and are used in conjunction with educational programs here at Avalon. These include observing and imaging a variety of celestial objects and events including sunspots and solar flares. Our monthly programs have included the use of a portable planetarium in all weather conditions, and have featured a variety of portable telescopes on clear nights. The permanent Avalon Observatory enclosures allow us to make telescopes available on a moment’s notice and help us provide more frequent viewing opportunities.

We have done Five Webex Remote Observatory Programs!

Our next Program from the Avalon Observatories is Scheduled for Friday November 20th at 8:00 p.m.
