If you’ve joined us for our past seal walks at Crane Neck, you may have noticed this area accumulates an excess of marine debris (especially near Crane Neck Point). During our last visit we collected around 47 pounds of trash in less than one hour! This is an area that requires more attention, so we’ll be returning to do a cleanup. We will log the types of materials we found as a group into the marine debris tracker app and we will weigh the amount of debris accumulated at the end of the activity while discussing impacts on the marine environment.
What to Bring:
- Extra layers and closed toed shoes or sneakers comfortable for walking on the beach
- Gloves for debris collection
- Water bottle
- Binoculars (please bring if you have them)
