Join us for a beach walk with the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society “AMSEAS” to scan the area for stranded/cold stunned sea turtles. This is the time of year where sea turtles should be migrating offshore to deeper waters or down south for the winter and sometimes they become exposed to our cold waters for too long and end up getting hypothermic or “cold stunned”. AMSEAS staff rely on public engagement and often receive reports of cold stunned or stranded animals in the marine environment. We don’t know what’s out there unless we are prepared to look for it – we’ll also be doing some training exercises so that you’ll be equipped with the proper tools to respond if you ever spot a stranded animal on your own!
We will meet in front of the pavilion at West Meadow Beach (left side after you enter the parking lot)
