Dive in to a 4-day session focused on exploring marine life beneath the water’s surface, learning more about our local estuaries, participating in field activities and getting on the water! If you love the ocean as much as I do, want to learn more about marine life, or are considering exploring a career as a Marine Biologist or a related field then this is a great opportunity!
This program is first come, first serve! Please make sure you can commit to at least two out of the four dates and times before signing up. Meeting locations will vary between West Meadow Beach, Nissequogue River, Stony Brook Harbor and the LI Aquarium.
We are partnering with the Stony Brook Yacht Club to run a shellfish aquaculture program raising Eastern oysters and hard shelled clams. Now in its twelfth year, the goals are to improve water quality, promote the health of tidal wetlands, and to reintroduce stocks of cultured species for restoration purposes.
Come join us to build extra clam cages and to do a quadrat survey of the bottom of the seafloor, we’ll see what types of critters we can find!
