Ethereal Musings

“Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience”

                                                                            ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The other day I was stopped by a small sassafras tree growing in the shadow of a burning bush.  Well it didn’t actually yell out, “STOP!” but its beauty did.  It stirred something in me, the way an amazing sunset or vast snow covered mountains takes my breath away.

These little plants held something magical for me. The varied colors of their leaves.  The exquisite shapes of the sassafras leaves as they held out their ghost shaped leaves in various shades of chlorophyll loss.   Stunning.  The bright crimson red of the burning bush reaching toward the sassafras below.

Some moments in time are just like this. No words needed, just time to wonder about beauty and what makes us feel something inside our hearts.  I feel this way too when I watch the kids who come to my program.  The beauty of their thoughts and creative ways of being and interacting.

Fall is a time to slow down and begin to prepare for the great hibernation of winter. Whether it is falling leaves, birds at a feeder or the first snowflake I hope you can find the beauty and wonder which comes with these ethereal moments in time.
