Flax Pond is a 152-acre tidal wetland ecosystem in Old Field managed by the NYS DEC. We’ll be following the hiking trail across the boardwalk over the water which comes out to a rocky beach along Long Island Sound. Once we get to the beach, we will be doing a clean up as this area gets a lot of debris from storm surges. Join us for a day of walking across a salt marsh and cleaning up the shore!

We will be meeting in the parking lot of Flax Pond Marine Laboratory located on Shore Drive in East Setauket (off Crane Neck Rd). The Google Map is provided below.

What to bring/further instructions:

• Clothing: Warm layers/windbreaker or jacket – it will feel colder on the beach!
• Hiking boots/sneakers comfortable for walking on the beach
• Water bottle/snack
