We will continue making “seed balls” that will be used for a wetland restoration project in the spring. We’ve selected specific plant varieties that can withstand marsh and flooding areas. We’ll be using a mixture of potting soil, compost and clay powder to roll these little seeds together. Be ready to get messy! After the seeds are cold stratified they will be ready for planting or “tossing”. Seed balls are a great idea to plant hard to reach places and to regenerate native plants in public areas.
We will be meeting at the Avalon Barn located on Shep Jones Lane in Stony Brook.
