Vine Removal at CEED

April 9, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Please note, this event is for registered for Nature Initiative members only. To learn more about our youth program, click here.

The Center for Environmental Education and Discovery (CEED) in Brookhaven is calling upon volunteers to help clear oriental bittersweet vines from the their grounds in order to create more outdoor green space for forest school play and to reintroduce native species into the area. Be prepared to use loppers, pruning shears and other clipping tools to help clean out this area. We’ll conclude the project by rewarding ourselves for our hard work! We’ll be exploring a recently blazed trail leading down to Beaverdam Creek (which flows into Bellport Bay).

We will be meeting at CEED located on S Country Road in Brookhaven.

This project is eligible for Stewardship Superheroes- for more information click here

WHAT TO BRING/FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Clothing: long sleeves, long pants, sneakers/hiking boots with high socks- there will be ticks and poison ivy off trail where we are working
  • Pair of garden gloves
