Remember the seed we collected from the wildflower meadows? They have been drying out and this time we’ll learn how to separate the seeds from the chaff (covering). Joy from Four Harbors Audubon Society will be joining us, illustrating the technique for cleaning and separating the seeds, and we will prepare to sow them in the winter. This is a good way to learn more about saving your own seed and growing native plants based on what is already established (instead of buying new).
We will be meeting at the Avalon Barn located on Shep Jones Lane in Stony Brook.
This project is eligible for Stewardship Superheroes. For more information click here. If you are in Stewardship Superheroes please bring your program materials to this event. If you are interested in joining this long term project, I will have extra materials available.
