Whether you are involved in Stewardship Superheroes, enjoy sketching or observing the natural world, or simply want to learn more about nature journaling, come and join us! Luci Nash from the Four Harbors Audubon Society, an avid birder and scientific illustrator, will be leading a workshop for us at Avalon. We will be going over what a nature journal is, how to get started, different techniques of what to include in your journal and Luci will be sharing some of her experiences. Luci’s illustrations have appeared in scientific journals such as Science, Nature, Science Times, and PLOS ONE, as well as in National Geographic, Natural History Magazine, and several other scientific publications in print and online.
Nature journaling has countless benefits such as learning how to slow down and notice more intricate details in nature, developing a sense of wonder and curiosity, gaining more time outdoors, remembering experiences and building the skills of a naturalist. You don’t have to be an artist in order to participate!
We will be meeting at the Avalon Barn located on Shep Jones Lane in Stony Brook.
