Invasive Species Pull

October 10, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Please note, this event is for registered for Nature Initiative members only. To learn more about our youth program, click here.

Over the last 10 years, we’ve been working with the Three Village Arboretum in Frank Melville Park to help clear invasive plant species. We’ve been successful with much persistence on mile-a-minute and the work of pulling these really makes a difference. Wisteria is another invasive, woody vine making its way through the landscape and is climbing over the umbrella magnolia saplings which are valuable trees to our area. Join us in the arboretum to help pull these wisteria vines while exploring the park- we’ll conclude our project with a visit to the pond!

We’ll be meeting in the Bates House parking lot at Frank Melville Memorial Park in Setauket.

This project is eligible for Stewardship Superheroes- for more information click here

  • Clothing: long sleeves, long pants, sneakers/hiking boots with high socks- there will be ticks and poison ivy off trail where we are working
