Fall Seed Collection at Avalon

October 14, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Please note, this event is for registered for Nature Initiative members only. To learn more about our youth program, click here.

As the wildflowers in the meadows begin to go to seed, join us as we walk through the fields of Avalon for a seed collection. Joy from Four Harbors Audubon Society will be joining us, illustrating the technique for drying out and separating the seeds, and we will prepare to sow them in the winter. This is a good way to learn more about saving your own seed and growing native plants based on what is already established (instead of buying new).

This project is eligible for Stewardship Superheroes. For more information click here. If you are in Stewardship Superheroes please bring your program materials to this event. If you are interested in joining this long term project, I will have extra materials available.

What to bring/further instructions:

  • Clothing: long pants, high socks, long sleeves, sneakers **ticks will be a concern since we are going off trail!
  • Pair of garden gloves
  • Hat/bugspray
